Time For a Swift One.

This post is one of those quick little ones that either amend errors in, or add additional information/photographs to, earlier writings.

Firstly, shortly after publishing the previous post I heard from David Browne whose grandparents, Jack and Blanche Cadman, were the final landlord and landlady of the Seven Stars on the corner of Brook Street and Leaper Street in Derby. It seems that the pub closed its doors around 1960/61 before being demolished as the West End of Derby was redeveloped.

Secondly, Katie Nichols has provided me with some images of The Globe in Blofield before it was flattened, which have now been added to this even earlier post which you can read by clicking here. It's nice to get to see what the interiors of these bygone boozers were like. It's also nice to know that some people actually read all this nonsense!

Globe, Blofield

Globe, Blofield

Globe, Blofield

Globe, Blofield

Globe, Blofield

So, a 'thank you' to David and Katie and that's that! I said it was a quick one. Don't worry though, a more substantial couple of posts are in the offing.

If you've read this far, then thank you. Possibly, like me, you may have some sort of interest in bygone boozers. Clicking here will take you to a searchable/sortable index which you can use to see if I've already featured any lost locals from your locality. You can also subscribe to ensure that you don't miss any future posts. Simply click here to return to the home page (opens in a new tab), follow the 'Subscribe' link and complete the form to receive an email notification of any future post. Or you could simply follow the link at the top of this page.
